Day One

I purchased the 1978 tradewind (not yet named) from a private party in Los Angeles.   Rained all the way home and opened up to sunny skies when I rolled in the parking lot.

Mom came over to check out the new find - a quick Vanna White for the camera.

Awnings on both sides.  Outside in rather good condition - wait till you see the inside :(

  1. I added your blog to my blog roll! I will be following your blog so be sure to inspire us. I am also renovating but my skills, money and creative talent are nowhere near yours. You have a great eye and skill. Anyway, my blog is 1967airstreamglobetrotter.blogspot.com.

    Great work Matt!

  2. This Airstream is one of the coolest things I've seen you tackle, Matthew. Like everything you do, you're doing it right.

And to think it all started 24 years ago when you were three, as the "project leader" on a 7-story tree house on the lot next door at our home in Mammoth... time truly flies when you're treasuring each day ;-)

  4. Love your blog and am doing the same thing to a 1972 Sovereign. Are you, or have you, removed the interior skin to replace the insulation? This is the only thing I find particularly daunting, and I haven't been able to find any documentation - yet. What you've done is beautiful - awesome work!
